LUNAIRIS | LEANNA MICHELLE HEWITT

Thank you for being here! My name is Leanna Michelle Hewitt, also known as the poet Lunairis. I am a self-published writer, creative artist, and a mother of two. I was born in London, Ontario (Canada), and am now based in Saskatchewan, Canada. I proudly dedicate myself to transforming my own and others' thoughts, emotions, concepts and ideas into artistic multimedia solutions using proficient visual, verbal, and written communication to achieve effective, professional results.

My writing often reflects powerful personal truths and lessons in love and life. I encourage growth, no matter what has been entangled into my roots. A lover of all things magic, I am always searching for the beauty in between love and tragedy through the emotional journey of my life. It is important to embrace the light and dark of all that exists.

 

I describe my inspiration as erratic and unpredictable like me, thriving in ecstatic highs and chaotic lows. Drawing from thoughts, memories, experiences, emotions, and dreams, I have adapted a passion for sharing my story in the hope of inspiring others to keep surviving. I am an admirer of romance, astronomy, nature, history, arts, literature, and am always drawn to the otherworldly and fantastical, the eclectic, strange, and unusual.

 

My father once told me, "If you can dream it, you can create it, and if you can create, you can inspire." He taught me about digital art and expressing myself creatively from a young age, as he was a web and graphic designer who owned a print shop that I can still remember the smell of ink from. Sadly in 2015, he passed away, but I still try to make him proud every day.

My alias and pen name, LUNAIRIS, is a tribute to the moon (Luna) and Goddess of the rainbow, Iris, a divine messenger between the earth and sky.

 

In May of 2021, I obtained my Professional Diploma in Graphic Design, looking forward to establishing a career in the graphic design/writing field where I can continue to learn and grow creatively while embracing and satisfying corporate, business, customer, as well as client needs and expectations doing what I love to do. As a life-long learner, I have over 15 years of experience in producing visual and digital art using a variety of mediums and tools for personal, freelance, and commission work.

I am currently compiling my artistic portfolio whilst enhancing my knowledge and skills to enter and advance within the industry, and look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with a team of creative professionals and to work with diverse and exciting clientele.
